Breast Lift (Mastopexy)

What is breast lift surgery?

Over time, factors like pregnancy, nursing, weight fluctuations, and natural aging can take a toll on the shape and firmness of your breasts, causing them to lose their youthful placement and elasticity. A mastopexy is a surgical procedure designed to reverse these changes by removing excess, stretched skin, meticulously reshaping the underlying breast tissue, and repositioning the nipple and areola to a more natural, higher position on the chest wall. and restore a perkier, more elevated profile. Our goal is to help you feel confident, comfortable, and beautifully proportioned.

Will a breast lift make my breasts smaller or larger?

A breast lift alone does not significantly change your actual breast volume; it simply reshapes and elevates the tissue you already have to a higher, more youthful position on the chest wall. However, because the breast tissue is tightened and lifted, your breasts may appear slightly smaller. If you want to increase your size, you can combine a lift with an implant; if you want to decrease size, we can perform a reduction at the same time.

Where will my incisions be?

The type of scar depends on the degree of lift needed. For mild sagging, a periareolar (donut) around the edge of the areola can be used. For moderate sagging, a vertical (lollipop) around the areola and straight down to the breast crease is used. For severe sagging, an inverted-T (anchor) around the areola, down to the crease, and horizontally along the crease will be used.

Can I get a breast lift and implants at the same time?

Absolutely! This is a very common combination. An augmentation-mastopexy is ideal for patients who want to restore the perkiness of their youth while also adding back the volume that was lost due to breastfeeding or weight loss. Combining them means you only have to go through one surgery and one recovery period.

How long do breast lift results last?

The results of a breast lift are long-lasting, but they are not entirely immune to gravity and aging. Your breasts will continue to age naturally from their new, elevated position. To maintain the results for as long as possible, we recommend maintaining a stable weight and wearing a supportive bra. Future pregnancies and breastfeeding can also alter the results, which is why many patients wait until their families are complete to have the procedure.

What is the recovery process like?

Recovery is generally very manageable. Most patients take about 1 to 2 weeks off work. You will wear a surgical support bra day and night for the first 6 weeks. While you will notice a dramatically perkier shape immediately, your breasts will initially sit quite high on the chest. It takes about 3 to 6 months for the tissues to settle into their final, natural position.
