Male Breast Reduction (Gynecomastia Surgery)

What is gynecomastia?

Gynecomastia is a common condition that causes enlarged male breast tissue. It can deeply impact one's self-esteem, leading many men to avoid fitted clothing, swimming, sports, or intimacy. If you are feeling self-conscious about the appearance of your chest, you are not alone. There are highly effective procedures designed to restore a flatter, more masculine contour, which can help you improve your overall confidence.

Where will the incisions be placed?

It depends on the severity of your case. Most incisions are typically placed on the lower border of the nipple and on the lower outer aspect of your chest wall for the liposuction ports.

Who are good candidates for gynecomastia surgery?

Good candidates include patients who are healthy, have stabilized in their breast development, are at a stable weight, do not smoke, and have realistic expects about their results.

What are the risks and complications of surgery?

Gynecomastia surgery is generally very safe, but every surgery carries risks and complications. For this procedure, this can include anesthesia risks, asymmetry, bleeding, fluid build-up, contour irregularities, change in nipple sensation, damage to deep structures, fat necrosis, infection, need for revision surgery, reactions to materials used, or unfavourable scarring.

What does the timeline of recovery look like?

After surgery, you will need to wear a compression garment to reduce swelling and support healing for at least 6 weeks. You will be given detailed instructions on how to care for your incisions, what medications you can take, and when you can resume work, exercise, and normal activity.

How long do the results last after surgery?

The results of this procedure are typically permanent. Your overall size will remain permanently smaller, lighter, and beautifully proportional to your frame. It is important to remember that major weight or hormonal fluctuations, or aging can naturally alter the shape and firmness of your chest wall.
