Breast Augmentation-Mastopexy

What is Augmentation-Mastopexy?

Sometimes, a single procedure isn't quite enough to achieve your aesthetic goals. If pregnancy, weight loss, or the natural aging process has left you with breasts that have both lost their youthful volume and begun to sag, an augmentation-mastopexy offers a beautifully comprehensive solution. This procedure safely combines two transformative surgeries into one single operation. First, a breast implant is used to restore lost volume, increase your cup size, and create gorgeous fullness in the upper chest. Then, a breast lift is performed to remove excess, stretched skin, reshape the underlying tissue, and elevate the nipple to a more youthful, forward-facing position.

Is it safe to have both procedures done at the exact same time?

Yes. While an augmentation-mastopexy requires advanced surgical planning and precision, combining them is incredibly common and safe. The primary benefit is that you only undergo anesthesia once and only have to navigate a single recovery period, rather than staggering two separate surgeries months apart.

Will adding an implant mean I have more scars?

Not at all. The visible scars are entirely determined by the type of breast lift your anatomy requires (such as a circle around the areola, or a vertical line down the breast). We use those exact same incisions to carefully place the implant. This means you get the benefit of the added volume without a single additional surgical scar.

Will the weight of the implant cause my breasts to sag again faster?

This is a very smart question. Gravity affects all of us, and a very large, heavy implant can indeed stretch your newly tightened skin over time. To protect your investment and ensure your lift lasts as long as possible, we typically recommend moderate-sized implants. These beautifully enhance your shape and upper-pole fullness without putting undue stress on your healing tissues.

What is the recovery process like compared to just getting an implant?

The recovery is very similar to having a breast lift alone, though you may feel a bit more internal "tightness" as your skin stretches to accommodate the new implant. You can expect to take 1 to 2 weeks off from work and normal daily activities. You will need to avoid heavy lifting, chest exercises, and vigorous workouts for 4 to 6 weeks to allow the implants to settle into their proper position.

Will I lose sensation in my nipples?

It is completely normal to experience temporary changes in nipple sensation—ranging from numbness to hypersensitivity—after surgery. The delicate nerves need time to heal from the lift and adjust to the stretching caused by the implant. For the vast majority of patients, normal sensation gradually returns over several months, though permanent changes are a rare but possible risk we will discuss with you.
